The Independent Difference

A Straight Conversation, Not a Sales Pitch

Life insurance has a reputation for high-pressure selling, and it is mostly deserved. That is not how we do it. The starting question is simple: if your income stopped tomorrow, what would your family still have to pay for, and for how long?

Answer that honestly and the rest gets easier. Term insurance covers a defined stretch, usually while there is a mortgage to clear and children at home, and it is far cheaper than most people assume. Permanent coverage lasts for life and builds cash value, which suits some situations and is overkill in others. We will tell you which one you are.

Distance is less of an obstacle than people expect. We write coverage nationwide, so family who have moved out of state are often easier to help than you would think.

What Is In a Policy

What Life Insurance Can Do

Different structures solve different problems. Here is what each is genuinely for.

  • Term Life

Coverage for a set number of years, commonly 10 to 30. The lowest cost per dollar of protection, which is why it fits the mortgage-and-children years so well.

  • Whole Life

Permanent coverage with a cash value that builds over time. Costs considerably more per dollar of death benefit, and suits estate and legacy planning more than income replacement.

  • Income Replacement

The core job. Enough to cover the years of earnings your household would lose, not just the funeral, which is where most people underestimate.

  • Mortgage Protection

Sized so the house is paid off rather than sold in a hurry. Often the single clearest way to think about how much coverage you need.

  • Final Expenses

A smaller policy aimed at funeral and settlement costs. Frequently the right answer for older applicants where a large policy is not realistic.

  • Business Continuation

Key person and buy-sell funding, so a partner's death does not force the sale of a business. Pairs with commercial coverage.

Eligibility, pricing and benefits depend on the carrier, your age and your health at the time of application. Many people pair life with umbrella insurance, since both protect the same thing, which is everything you have built. Business owners should also see business insurance.

Common Questions

Life Insurance Questions We Hear a Lot

  • A common starting point is ten times income, but the honest answer is whatever clears your debts and replaces your income for as long as your family needs it. We work it out with you rather than quoting a rule of thumb.

  • For most people with a mortgage and children at home, term does the job at a fraction of the cost. Whole life has a place in estate planning and for permanent needs. We are independent, so we have no reason to steer you either way.

  • Not always. Several carriers offer simplified or accelerated underwriting where a healthy applicant can be approved on questions alone. It usually costs a little more, and for many people the trade is worth it.

  • It is a good start and rarely the whole answer. Group coverage is usually a modest multiple of salary and, more importantly, it ends when the job does. A personal policy stays with you.

  • Yes. Our office is in Falcon and most of our clients are along the Front Range, but we write coverage nationwide. Where you live is rarely the obstacle people expect it to be.

  • It is still worth applying. Carriers rate conditions very differently from one another, and being independent means we can take your situation to the ones most likely to look at it favourably.
